Software Development Manager (Java)

Lead a team of software engineers in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality enterprise applications. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in Java and C# technologies with proven leadership skills to drive software delivery, team development, and continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.

This role requires close collaboration with product managers, architects, QA teams to ensure the successful delivery of scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions. 

Responsibilities:  

Team Leadership & Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Java and C# software engineers.
• Conduct performance reviews, career development planning, and regular coaching sessions.
• Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance engineering culture.
• Manage resource allocation, workload balancing, and team capacity planning.
• Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent.

Software Development & Delivery

• Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of enterprise Java applications.
• Ensure adherence to software engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines.
• Drive Agile/Scrum development processes and continuous delivery initiatives.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans.
• Ensure software solutions meet quality, performance, scalability, and security requirements. 

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical direction on Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and cloud-native architectures.
• Review system designs, architecture decisions, and code quality.
• Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, automation, and DevOps practices.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies, frameworks, and tools where beneficial.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects to align solutions with organizational technology standards. 

Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Communicate project status, risks, and delivery plans to senior management.
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among development, QA, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
• Manage vendor and external development partners when applicable.

Operational Excellence

• Establish KPIs and metrics to monitor team performance and software quality.
• Drive continuous process improvements across the SDLC.
• Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and governance requirements.
• Support production issue resolution and major incident management.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related discipline.

Master's degree is an advantage.

Experience:

• 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
• Strong hands-on experience in Java enterprise application development.
• Proven track record managing software delivery teams in Agile environments.
• Experience leading large-scale enterprise software projects.

• Professional certifications in Agile, Scrum, PMP, AWS, Azure, or Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of security best practices and secure software development.
