Job Description

The Software Control Engineer in NPDI MTS Singapore is responsible for the design, development, validation, and support of software control systems for HP measurement and test tools used in New Product Development & Introduction (NPDI). The role focuses on system‑level software that interfaces with electrical, mechanical, and vision subsystems to ensure accurate measurement, reliable operation, and successful product qualification and ramp.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software control systems for HP MTS test tools supporting ink supplies, printhead, and related NPDI platforms. These include upgrades for NPI such as new test methodologies and recipes.

  • Own system‑level control software for electrical drive systems, motion control, sensing, and measurement.

  • Support Level 3 system engineering activities for MTS tools, including troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with global MTS core technology teams (Level 4) on tool enhancements, characterization, and complex software issues.

  • Participate in tool characterization, correlation studies, and calibration activities to ensure measurement accuracy and repeatability.

  • Interface closely with Electrical, Mechanical, and Vision engineers to resolve integrated HW/SW system issues.

  • Support deployment, rollout, and sustainment of MTS software for SEA region manufacturing and partner sites.

  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including software descriptions, troubleshooting guides, and engineering notes.

  • Provide. engineering‑level support, training, and guidance to process, product, and manufacturing engineering teams as required.


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor, Masters, or PhD in engineering/physics science degree, computer science, computer engineering, or with relevant software experience.

  • Good understanding of tester software systems including hardware integration.

  • Experience with system‑level debugging involving software, electronics, motors, sensors, and instrumentation.

  • Knowledge of measurement systems, calibration concepts, and tool characterization.

  • Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional engineering teams.

  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Clear technical communication and documentation skills.
    Understanding of motion control and electric motor concepts.

  • Ability to exercise engineering judgment and work within defined policies and practices as needed.

  • Able to determine best methods for accomplishing work and achieving deliverables.

  • Exhibit solid planning, organizational, and documentation skills.

  • Familiarity with MFC, WinForms, WPF, STL, .NET, Visual Studio IDE, Git hub a plus.

Preferred Technical Exposure

  • PC‑based and PLC‑based control systems

  • Motion control and motor PID tuning

  • Electrical drive and sensing systems

  • Software architecture for engineering test platforms
