Job Summary

Lead data management initiatives by organizing datasets, implementing governance policies, facilitating Agile delivery, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design data solutions that enhance business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and organize large datasets through data acquisition, cleaning, transformation, and storage to ensure data readiness for analysis
• Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures to maintain data accuracy, completeness, and security
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives to drive team collaboration among interns, data engineers, data managers, and product owners
• Prepare test cases and validate data quality with engineering teams to ensure reliable data outputs
• Design and improve onboarding materials, 30-60 day plans, and training programs for new hires including interns, data engineers, and data managers
• Standardize documentation in Confluence and streamline team processes to enhance operational efficiency
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data solutions aligned with business requirements
• Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata, and documentation to support effective data management and analysis
• Establish and monitor data quality metrics and processes to continuously improve data integrity
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data analysts to build team capability
• Stay current with emerging data management trends and technologies to drive innovation
• Coordinate data ingestion requirements, schema reviews, and metadata documentation to ensure data quality and consistency
• Utilize data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI to present insights effectively
• Apply problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve data-related issues
• Communicate and collaborate effectively across teams to support data project success
• Conduct business analysis for data projects to align technical solutions with business needs

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Degree or qualifications in Computer Science, Information Management, or related fields
• Experience with data management tools such as SQL, Python, or R
• Professional certifications in data management, e.g., Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or DAMA-CDMP
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark
• Experience with cloud-based data management platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Experience with machine learning and predictive analytics
• Experience working with geospatial data
