Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Application & Software Portfolio Management

  • Own and manage the end-to-end application and software portfolio, including custom-built and third-party systems.

  • Define application roadmaps, lifecycle management, and modernization strategies.

  • Ensure applications meet business, security, and compliance requirements.

Delivery & Engineering Oversight

  • Lead software development, enhancement, and integration initiatives.

  • Oversee SDLC activities including design, development, testing, release, and maintenance.

  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, architecture guidelines, and best practices.

Operations & Support

  • Ensure high availability, performance, and stability of production applications.

  • Manage L2/L3 support, incident, problem, and change management processes.

  • Drive root-cause analysis and continuous service improvement.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Act as a primary point of contact for business stakeholders on application matters.

  • Manage third-party vendors, system integrators, and software providers.

  • Communicate risks, timelines, and impacts effectively to senior management.

Governance, Security & Compliance

  • Enforce application governance, documentation, and audit requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with security, data protection, and regulatory standards.

  • Support IT audits and risk assessments related to application systems.

Team Leadership & Budget Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop application and software teams.

  • Manage resource planning, performance reviews, and skills development.

  • Own application-related budgets, licensing, and cost optimization initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong understanding of enterprise application architectures and integration patterns.

  • Experience managing custom applications, COTS software, and SaaS platforms.

  • Knowledge of databases, APIs, middleware, and cloud platforms.

  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and release management practices.

  • Working knowledge of ITIL processes and SDLC methodologies.

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Proven experience in people management and cross-functional leadership.

  • Strong stakeholder, vendor, and risk management skills.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and decision-making abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, Prince2, SAFe, or Cloud certifications are an advantage.
