Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Sofa Upholsterer to join our furniture production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing, refurbishing and upholstering sofas and other upholstered furniture, ensuring that finished products meet the required quality and workmanship standards.

Key Responsibilities

Perform upholstery work on sofas, chairs and other upholstered furniture using various fabrics, leather and synthetic materials.
Remove old upholstery materials, including fabric, leather, foam and padding, from furniture frames.
Measure, cut and prepare upholstery materials according to furniture dimensions and design specifications.
Install and replace foam, padding, springs, webbing and other upholstery components.
Sew, stitch and fit upholstery covers to ensure proper alignment, fitting and finishing.
Repair and refurbish existing sofas and upholstered furniture to restore their appearance and functionality.
Use appropriate hand tools, sewing machines and upholstery equipment to carry out upholstery work.
Inspect completed upholstery work to ensure quality, durability and consistency with customer specifications.
Identify material defects and workmanship issues and carry out necessary adjustments or repairs.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the upholstery workshop, tools and equipment.
Follow workplace safety procedures when handling tools, machinery and upholstery materials.
Coordinate with other production team members to complete assigned jobs within the required timelines.

Job Requirements

Certificates or qualifications equivalent to Secondary education.
Relevant experience in sofa upholstery, furniture repair or upholstery-related work is preferred.
Knowledge of upholstery materials, including fabric, leather, foam and padding.
Practical skills in measuring, cutting, sewing, stitching and fitting upholstery materials.
Ability to operate basic upholstery tools, sewing machines and related workshop equipment.
Good attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent workmanship and finishing quality.
Ability to follow measurements, design specifications and work instructions.
Good problem-solving skills and ability to identify and rectify upholstery defects.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with other workshop personnel.
