Job Description

We are looking for a Social Media Specialist to help shape our social media strategy and drive the execution of ideas across various social media platforms of Lianhe Zaobao.

You should be well-versed in the latest social media trends and analytic tools, familiar with social video production workflows and the multiple platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, WeChat, YouTube, X, TikTok and Xiaohongshu. Strong command of both Chinese and English is essential.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Curate and/or produce social-centric content, including social cards and short-form videos using tools such as Canva, Capcut and AI-assisted creative tools
  • Conduct onsite interviews of news events independently, including film coverage and edit them into short videos
  • Develop a social management strategy for zaobao.sg platforms through competitive analysis, audience research and industry trends, and partner the newsroom to see through its implementation
  • Apply social media best practices to optimise content performance across platforms
  • Equip producers and editors with essential social media management skills through guidance and platform techniques
  • Collaborate with visual designers to develop platform-specific templates to streamline and enhance efficiency in social content production
  • Monitor and analyse social media performance data using tools such as Echobox, Sprout Social and Google Analytics, to provide insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Build and foster strong relationship/engagement with social media audiences to grow reach and presence

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant discipline; at least 2 years of relevant experience in social media management and/or digital marketing preferred
  • Strong command in Chinese and English, both written and spoken, to support content creation for a Chinese-language publication
  • Ability to use analytics and insight tools e.g. Google Analytics, CrowdTangle, to evaluate performance and track trends
  • Passionate about current affairs and the social media landscape
  • Familiarity with Chinese social media platforms such as WeChat would be a plus
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and also, connect with people and collaborate as a team
