Job Description

Responsibilities

The Senior Manager has end-to-end strategic and operational oversight of Mediacorp's digital production asset management (PAM) ecosystem, with primary responsibility for News and Current Affairs operations, while also enabling asset governance and reuse across Entertainment productions. The role encompasses AI-driven metadata frameworks, taxonomy governance, workflow integration, and comprehensive content lifecycle management to ensure assets are structured, secure, and highly discoverable across platforms.

The Senior Manager defines and enforces enterprise-level metadata standards and AI tagging governance structures to ensure consistency, accuracy, and scalability across news and relevant entertainment content assets. The role leads the integration, optimisation, and performance management of the Production Asset Management system across newsroom production, post-production, and publishing workflows, while supporting cross-departmental access and reuse in accordance with rights and compliance requirements.

In addition, the role establishes governance controls for rights management, data privacy including biometric data considerations archival integrity, and regulatory compliance across content operations. By driving automation and workflow redesign initiatives, the Senior Manager improves productivity, reduces manual processes, and strengthens scalable digital publishing capabilities for both news and broader content distribution needs.

  • Drive AI-Enabled Newsroom Transformation
  • Lead the strategic implementation and optimisation of AI-driven metadata tools (facial recognition, speech-to-text, object detection) to enhance newsroom efficiency and discoverability.
  • Develop a future-ready metadata architecture aligned with digital publishing, OTT, social, and emerging platforms.
  • Champion automation initiatives to reduce manual processes and accelerate production workflows.
  • Evaluate new AI capabilities and newsroom technologies to support continuous digital
  • Strengthen Content Discoverability & Monetisation
  • Establish and maintain newsroom-wide metadata standards, taxonomies, and keyword hierarchies aligned with editorial workflows.
  • Ensure consistent tagging practices across all video, audio, and digital assets within Mimir and connected systems.
  • Enable advanced search and retrieval capabilities to support breaking news, long-form storytelling, and archive repurposing.
  • Proactively surface archival and evergreen content for digital, social, and commercial opportunities.
  • Lead Integrated Digital Production Workflows
  • Oversee integration between the Production Asset Management (PAM) system and newsroom tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere and digital publishing platforms).
  • Design scalable workflows that support digital-first publishing, cross-platform distribution, and collaborative production models.
  • Govern user access, system permissions, and approval workflows to ensure operational efficiency and content security.
  • Partner with Technology teams to optimise ingest pipelines, storage utilisation, and system performance.
  • Governance, Compliance & Data Responsibility
  • Establish governance frameworks for AI-generated metadata, particularly in relation to biometric and facial recognition data.
  • Oversee copyright, licensing, and rights usage tracking across digital and broadcast content.
  • Ensure compliance with Mediacorp's data governance, privacy, and archival policies.
  • Safeguard long-term preservation and integrity of news assets as part of national media heritage stewardship.
  • Performance & Impact Measurement
  • Define KPIs aligned with News Digital Transformation Objectives (e.g., tagging accuracy, turnaround time, archive reuse rate, system adoption, storage optimisation).
  • Provide data driven insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Media Management, Broadcast Technology, Journalism, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • 6-8 years of experience in newsroom operations, digital media management, or broadcast technology, with leadership responsibilities.
  • Hands-on experience with Production Asset Management (PAM) systems
  • Experience with AI-driven media tools is a bonus.
  • Strong understanding of metadata strategy, taxonomy development, and digital discoverability tactics such as SEO.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced newsroom or digital publishing environment is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with data governance, content security, and rights management practices.

  • Prepared to work irregular shift hours and weekends/public holidays.
