Job Summary
The Metal Works Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations at the metal processing yard, supervising workers, ensuring workplace safety, and coordinating transportation of materials. The role also requires driving company vehicles when necessary to support operational and logistics needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations Supervision
- Supervise daily activities of workers involved in metal sorting, dismantling, cutting, and loading of scrap materials.
- Allocate work tasks and ensure operational efficiency and productivity targets are met.
- Coordinate with logistics and customers for the timely collection and delivery of scrap metal materials.
2. Workforce Management
- Lead and supervise a team of metal workers, drivers, and general labourers.
- Provide guidance and training on the proper handling of tools, machinery, and metal materials.
- Monitor workers attendance, discipline, and work performance.
3. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all operations comply with workplace safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct safety briefings and ensure workers wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Identify potential safety hazards in the yard and Implement corrective measures.
4. Driving & Transport Coordination
- Operate company vehicles such as lorries or vans when required for operational needs.
- Assist with the transportation of scrap metal materials between customer sites and the processing yard.
- Ensure proper loading and unloading procedures to maintain safety and efficiency.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any maintenance or repair issues.
5. Equipment & Yard Management
- Oversee the operation of equipment such as forklifts, cutting tools, and loading machinery.
- Ensure that the machinery is used properly and maintained in good working condition.
- Maintain organisation, cleanliness, and safety within the scrap yard.
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily operational reports, including manpower allocation and materials processed.
- Maintain records of scrap materials received, sorted and dispatched.
- Report operational issues, accidents, or equipment faults to management.
Requirements
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in metal recycling, metal works, construction, or industrial operations.
- Experience supervising workers in a scrap yard or a heavy industry environment preferred.
- Possess a valid Singapore Class 3 / Class 4 A driving licence with experience operating company vehicles.
- Familiar with workplace safety regulations in Singapore.
