Site Engineer / Senior Site Engineer
Job Purpose
To supervise and coordinate on-site construction activities, ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, and regulatory requirements. The Senior Site Engineer will take on greater responsibility in leading site operations and coordinating complex works.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision & Coordination
- Assist the Project Manager in supervising daily construction activities on site.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal teams to ensure smooth site operations.
- Ensure construction works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project schedules.
- Lead and manage sections of work, supervise junior engineers, and provide technical guidance to the site team.
Quality Control
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure workmanship and materials meet quality standards.
- Identify, report, and rectify non-conformance issues in a timely manner.
- Review quality issues, implement corrective actions, and ensure consistent quality standards across site activities.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce site safety rules and ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations and company policies.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and site safety inspections.
- Proactively identify safety risks and work with the project team to implement preventive measures.
Technical & Documentation Support
- Provide technical support to site teams and subcontractors.
- Assist in reviewing shop drawings, method statements, and material submissions.
- Prepare and maintain site records, reports, and inspection documentation.
- Lead technical coordination, review submissions in detail, and support technical discussions with consultants.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor daily work progress, manpower deployment, and productivity.
- Prepare daily site reports and progress updates.
- Support project planning, track milestones, and assist in recovery plans where required.
Coordination with Consultants & Authorities
- Liaise with consultants on site inspections, technical matters, and coordination issues.
- Support coordination with relevant authorities for inspections and compliance.
- Represent the site team during inspections and coordination meetings where required.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Building, Construction Management, or related discipline.
Experience
- Site Engineer: 13 years of relevant site experience in the construction industry.
- Senior Site Engineer: Candidates with 5 or more years of relevant site experience, with proven ability to independently manage site activities and lead teams.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Good coordination, leadership, and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and under site pressure.
- Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of BIM or construction software is an advantage.
- Familiarity with local building regulations and WSH requirements (for Singapore projects).
