The Opportunity
Our client is a global top-tier, privately owned energy and commodities trading house that manages the flow of vital resources across 5 continents. With annual profits consistently exceeding $2 billion, they leverage a sophisticated, data-driven approach to navigate complex markets-including crude oil, refined products, natural gas, power, and metals-connecting producers with end-users worldwide. Complementing their core trading activities, the company is also a recognized leader in financing the global energy transition, investing significantly in renewable energy, biofuels, and decarbonization technologies. They are currently seeking a Shipping Operator (Tanker) in Singapore.
Responsibilities:
- Vessel Vetting and Suitability: Assess vessel eligibility against internal vetting standards and verify compatibility with specific terminal and port requirements.
- Voyage and Stowage Optimization: Develop detailed stowage plans for multi-grade cargoes and propose efficient solutions, and determine optimal vessel routing based on speed, consumption, weather, and scheduling to maximize efficiency.
- Shipping Contract and LOI Negotiation: Manage the negotiation of various shipping-related contracts, such as agency, towage, mooring and ship-to-ship transfers, and LOI wordings. Contribute in c/p clauses elaboration.
- Operational Execution and Instructions: Issue voyage instructions to vessels and coordinate ship-to-ship transfers and bunkering of time-chartered fleet.
- Financial and System Accountability: Maintain accurate profit and loss tracking for voyages within the operations system, participate in system development. Review estimated versus actual voyage costs to identify optimization opportunities.

Requirements:
- Tertiary or bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in similar role and shipping experience handling DPP / CPP. Experience in dry bulk would be advantageous.
- Sailing experience as navigating officer in management level (combined with shore
- experience in a trading or shipping company) would be considered
- Familiar with standard tankers and dry voyage-/ time-charter parties forms, FFAs and basic
- freight and bunker risk management technics
- Ready to handle multiple sizing vessels
- Good communication skills in both written and verbal English. Proficient in Mandarin and/or Cantonese would be advantageous to liaise with oversea stakeholders
