Job Description

A Shipping Analyst with a programming background combines deep market understanding with advanced data-driven capabilities to enhance decision-making and performance. This role focuses on analyzing freight markets, vessel supply and demand dynamics, and trade flows, while leveraging programming skills to build models, automate processes, and extract insights from large datasets.

With expertise in tools such as Python, SQL, and data visualization platforms, the analyst develops pricing models, voyage optimization tools, and risk assessment frameworks. This enables more accurate forecasting, improved chartering strategies, and better alignment between cargo exposure and fleet positioning.

By integrating traditional shipping knowledge with quantitative analysis, the role supports commercial teams in identifying arbitrage opportunities, evaluating asset values, and managing market volatility. Additionally, the analyst contributes to building scalable systems and dashboards that improve transparency, efficiency, and strategic planning across the organization.

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar) and strong Excel skills.
