Job Description

Role Overview:

Embedded within the Oil Strategist team this role involves the production of shiptracking analysis for light ends markets in support of T&S trading activity.

This role is critical to enhancing real-time visibility of vessel movements across Asia and ensuring accurate data inputs for balance meetings and trading decisions. The primary responsibility is to provide organization's Eastern Hemisphere trading team with insight into vessel movements for lights value chain. Vessels will need to be identified, tracked and entered into organization's proprietary ship tracking database to inform organization's trading balances and create a comparison to externally sourced data.

This role will provide output and get input from shiptracking and analytics teams in London, Shanghai, Singapore, Houston and Chicago as well as ship tracking team in Budapest.

  • Monitor and track light end oil products vessel movements across key regions: China, Singapore, Korea, Middle East, and India.
  • Maintain and update shipping line-ups and vessel data in internal systems.
  • Collaborate with traders, analysts, and global teams (Budapest, EH) to ensure timely and accurate shipping intelligence.
  • Identify and resolve data gaps from external providers by leveraging in-house tracking tools.
  • Prepare and present shipping updates for balance meetings and strategic reviews

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Academic background preferably in Maritime Studies, Economics, Engineering, Data Science or another quantitative background, Advanced knowledge of Python, Dataiku (or other DS platforms) and/or PowerBI
  • 1 - 2 years experience in relevant or similar industry.
  • Prior experience in shipping analytics, trading operations, or PX/olefins/gasoline/naphtha/LPG markets preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities across time zones and teams.
  • Proficiency in Excel, shipping data platforms and coding skills (e.g. python) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to prioritize under pressure
