Job Description

A scientist in Computational Materials Engineering role to develop and support the advanced material development for structural applications especially for the Aerospace, Defence, Marine and Precision industry sectors.

The responsibilities for the role include:

· Theoretical and multiscale modelling of the mechanics of materials to aid in the development of Structural Materials and their associated processing routes

· Understanding of Dislocation mechanics, Plasticity and Fracture to develop robust models for thermal and thermomechanical processing and to deduce correlations between Structure-Process-Properties

· Development of interatomic potentials with density functional theory validations to aid alloy design from first principles

· Guidance on Design of Experiments to collaborators in sister RI's

· Writing research reports, proposals, and grants

Preferred Qualifications:

· Good track record in mechanics of materials

· Have a good understanding and physical intuition of metallurgical sciences

· Comfortable with handling large computational data sets

· Conversant with using Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence tools for Materials engineering
