Position Overview
The Service & Administrative Technician is a unique hybrid role that combines hands-on field service expertise with vital administrative and technical support functions. This position supports our team of field engineers by maintaining documentation, managing calibration records, handling parts logistics, and providing direct technical assistance on governors and instrumentation, while also performing on-site service work as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Field Service & Technical Support (50%)
- Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of hydraulic/electro-hydraulic governors, actuators, and control systems
- Service and maintain flow meters, gas analyzers, and related instrumentation
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance and emergency field service calls as required
- Provide direct technical support to field technicians via phone/email during complex troubleshooting scenarios
- Assist in equipment commissioning and start-up activities at customer sites
- Maintain company calibration standards and field test equipment
Administrative & Technical Support (50%)
- Maintain and manage all service documentation, calibration certificates, and compliance records
- Process field service reports, work orders, and technical documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Manage the calibration schedule and database for field instruments and test equipment
- Coordinate parts ordering, inventory management, and logistics for the service department
- Prepare technical proposals, service quotes, and project documentation
- Assist with customer communications, scheduling, and follow-up for service activities
- Update and maintain technical libraries, manuals, and software for equipment
- Support the development of maintenance procedures and technical bulletins
Requirements
- ITE Higher NITEC certification, Diploma, Degree in Instrumentation Technology, Electronics, or related field, OR equivalent military/technical training
- Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience. Experience with governors and/or instrumentation a plus
- Strong understanding of calibration principles and documentation requirements
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office Suite, database management, technical documentation software)
- Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and as part of a technical support team
Work Environment
- Split between office environment (technical support, documentation) and field service work
- Field work may involve travel (25-40%) to customer industrial sites
- Office work requires extended periods at a computer workstation
