Role: Senior Windows/VMWare Engineer
Purpose of the Role
To manage and support enterprise Windows Server, Active Directory, and VMware infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, resilience, and operational excellence across Production and Non-Production environments. Drive modernization, automation, standardization, and continuous improvement of core infrastructure services.
Role Attributes1
Ensure end-to-end ownership of Windows infrastructure services including server lifecycle, Active Directory, virtualization, patching, security, and operational governance.
Act as technical focal point with key stakeholders such as Tech Risk, IS, Internal / External Audit, Cloud, Network, and Application teams.
Drive best practices in infrastructure reliability, automation, monitoring, and service resilience.
Maintain awareness of industry best practices, emerging technologies, AI Ops, and infrastructure modernization trends.
Key Responsibilities
Manage enterprise Windows Server environments (2016 / 2019 / 2022) across Production and Non-Production.
Manage Active Directory services including Microsoft Active Directory, Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, GPO, authentication, replication, and identity lifecycle.
Manage and optimize VMware infrastructure including vCenter, ESXi, HA, DRS, vMotion, vSAN, and DR platforms.
Execute server provisioning, upgrades, migrations, patching, hardening, and secure decommissioning.
Ensure infrastructure monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
Manage incidents, root cause analysis, problem management, and change activities aligned to ITIL practices.
Ensure security compliance, vulnerability remediation, backup, DR readiness, and BCP requirements.
Develop automation using PowerShell / scripting tools to improve efficiency.
Maintain accurate SOPs, architecture diagrams, operational runbooks, and technical documentation.
Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior engineers.
Participate in standby / on-call support where required.

Team
Requirements
10+ years of infrastructure engineering experience, preferably in Insurance / Financial Services environment.
Strong hands-on expertise in Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and GPO.
Strong experience in VMware vSphere / ESXi / vCenter administration.
Experience in production support or Site Reliability / Operations environment.
Strong troubleshooting, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Experience managing critical incidents and multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
Experience in scripting / automation using PowerShell preferred.
Presentation and documentation skills with ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
