In addition to leading support for Japanese equity strategies, the individual will also contribute selectively to broader Asian investment capabilities, including regional equity and fixed income strategies.

This role requires high fluency of Japanese language to liaise with the stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Japanese Equity Product Leadership

  • Act as the subject matter expert and primary product representative for Japanese equity strategies.

  • Serve as the bridge between investment professionals, distribution teams, and external clients.

  • Translate investment views, portfolio positioning, performance drivers, and market developments into compelling client-facing narratives.

  • Partner closely with portfolio managers to communicate investment philosophy and process effectively.

Business Development Support

  • Develop and execute product marketing and sales-support plans for Japanese equity capabilities.

  • Support fundraising initiatives and help secure new mandates from institutional investors.

  • Contribute to asset growth while supporting client retention efforts.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and commercial objectives.

Client and Market Engagement

  • Lead client discussions, portfolio reviews, due diligence meetings, and educational sessions.

  • Prepare high-quality presentations, market commentaries, thought leadership material, and RFP responses.

  • Create investment content and market outlook pieces that help sales professionals engage investors effectively.

  • Support training initiatives for both internal and external audiences.

Broader Asia Coverage

  • Provide additional product specialist support across selected Asian investment strategies, which may include regional equities and fixed income products.

  • Collaborate with investment professionals and sales colleagues throughout Asia.

  • Manage multiple ongoing projects while coordinating effectively with investment, client service, marketing, and distribution functions.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Deep understanding of the Japanese equity market, including market dynamics, corporate governance trends, valuation drivers, and shareholder-return considerations.

  • Strong ability to discuss investment products, portfolio construction, risk management, performance attribution, and market outlooks with sophisticated investors.

  • Highly fluent Japanese and strong business-level English to liaise with the stakeholders.

  • Excellent presentation, public-speaking, and educational training capabilities.

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Ability to operate independently while managing multiple priorities and projects.

  • Collaborative working style and experience partnering with regional teams.

  • Proficiency with Bloomberg, Microsoft Office, and other investment research tools.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent academic qualification.

  • Approximately 10 years or more of experience within a reputable financial institution.

  • Significant expertise in Japanese equities gained through investment management, equity research, product specialist, or client-facing investment roles.

  • Prior experience representing Japanese equity strategies to clients is strongly preferred.

  • Experience covering Japanese institutional investors is essential.

  • Exposure to intermediary, private wealth, or retail distribution channels would be advantageous.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting client presentations, due diligence meetings, and investment-related training sessions.

  • Familiarity with broader Asian equity or fixed income strategies would be beneficial.

  • Professional qualifications such as CFA, CMA (Japan), or similar certifications would be viewed favorably.
