Reporting to the manager, Industry Practices, playing a crucial role by assessing and evaluating the risks involved in insuring. The role provides a fantastic opportunity for those further looking to develop their knowledge and expertise in the Underwriting space.
This role requires a strong understanding of insurance policies, principles and procedures, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve financial targets for allocated Broker panel.
- Deliver set Distribution activities (Broker Visits, Key Account Management, Prospecting, New Business generation)
- Appropriate use of delegated Underwriting authority
Appropriate risk assessment process
- Appropriate deployment of capacity on New & Renewal Business including endorsement of existing coverage.
- Adherence to Product guidelines & initiatives, including growth or diversification strategies or remedial action if required.
- Development & execution of personal Distribution plan for assigned Broker panel. Distribution plan will include Key Account management plan, management of assigned renewal portfolio (including remedial Underwriting action), Broker visit plan, Cross Sell, Pipeline & Prospect activities.
- Close collaboration with property, financial lines and casualty departments.
- Participate in joint travel/presentations.
Qualifications
Desired Qualifications & Skillset
- 3 to 5 years experience in Property & Casualty underwriting
- Ability to handle a mix of mid-market volume business and large, complex accounts.
- Makes recommendations for tailoring coverage and demonstrates knowledge of the products & services.
- Ability to adapt to fast paced environment with frequent changes in product and industry dynamic in a rapidly growing segment.
- Exhibits exceptional customer service skills and anticipates and responds to the needs of producers.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with people and influence decisions.
