Job Description
The Role
A bill of materials can specify exactly what engineering wants and still run into real-world problems: a part is unavailable, a lead time moves or the nearest substitute is not technically equivalent.
You will sit between the BOM and reality. That means understanding enough of the hardware to source valid alternatives, working closely with engineering and suppliers, keeping inventory ahead of demand and building better systems so component issues do not become build or deployment issues.
Why the Work Matters
Critical minerals, energy, infrastructure and national security all depend on decisions about what lies beneath the surface. Today, too many of those decisions are still made with incomplete information. At Atomionics, your work helps change what people can know before they act.
What You Will Do
- Own technical procurement from engineering request through supplier selection, ordering and delivery.
- Maintain the technical Approved Vendor List and build reliable supplier relationships for specialized components and equipment.
- Work with engineers to compare technically valid alternatives when parts, lead times or specifications change.
- Keep critical engineering inventory ahead of expected builds and deployments.
- Automate purchasing, inventory and operational workflows where manual work no longer scales.
- Support the readiness of specialized equipment and hardware for field deployments.
What We Are Looking For
- Engineering or another relevant technical degree, or equivalent technical experience.
- Several years working at the interface of engineering, procurement or supply chain.
- Experience sourcing technical or industrial components and reasoning about specifications, equivalents and supplier trade-offs.
- Comfort building systems and processes instead of only operating an existing one.
- Strong self-direction and practical judgment when information is incomplete.
Even Better If
- Experience with specialized scientific, electronics or hardware supply chains.
- Workflow automation, inventory systems or procurement-tool experience.
- Experience supporting hardware builds or field deployments.
What Success Looks Like
Engineering spends less time chasing parts, technically valid alternatives are found earlier and the operational systems around procurement and inventory become more reliable as the company scales.
Working at Atomionics
Subsurface intelligence takes more than one discipline. People bring different expertise to the same problem, and what happens in one part of the system shapes the next. The roles are different, but the goal is shared: make subsurface intelligence useful where it matters.
