Role Summary
This is NOT a ticket-closing role. We are hiring a hands-on Senior Systems Engineer who will be the technical backbone of Evernet Systems. If our core value Behave Like a Winner: Take Ownership and Be Accountable resonates with how you already work, keep reading.
Let's be upfront: we're not looking for an employee. We're looking for someone who wants to build something together with us - someone who gets excited about creating new services that genuinely help our clients work smarter, and who takes pride in knowing they helped make it happen. If you just want a stable job doing the same thing every day, this isn't the right fit. If you want to be part of building something cool that actually makes a difference for real businesses, read on.
Your primary technical depth is in Microsoft 365 and cloud infrastructure, with strong operational capability (L2+) across networking, security, virtualisation, and backup/DR. You don't need to know everything - but when a problem lands on your desk, it's yours until it's resolved. You find the way, whether that's through your own expertise, research, vendor engagement, or external resources.
You must be genuinely open to new ways of working. Evernet is building an AI-driven service model, and you will participate in product development discussions, contribute to infrastructure decisions, and eventually run the new operating model. We need someone who sees a repetitive manual process and thinks, There must be a better way.
Note: This is a technical authority role, not a people management role. People management (performance reviews, HR, scheduling) sits with the Service Delivery Manager. You lead through technical expertise and by sharing knowledge naturally through daily work.
Technical Environment
What You'll Do
1) Technical Ownership & Escalation
2) P1 Incident Response
Note: You are not on the regular on-call rotation. L1 and L2 engineers handle on-call. You are the escalation point when a P1 incident occurs.
3) P1 Incident Response
4) Project Leadership & Delivery
5) Change Management Gate
6) Monitoring & Alert Optimisation
7) Technical Documentation & Knowledge Base
8) AI & Product Development Journey (The Opportunity)
This is what makes this role different from every other Senior Systems Engineer position out there.
Evernet is actively building something new - an AI-powered Modern Infrastructure Provider model. We're not just talking about AI; we're developing new products and services that don't exist yet. And we want you at the table.
To be clear: the Technical Director leads the AI product development and architecture. Your role is to be a hands-on partner - testing what gets built, providing operational feedback from the field, deploying solutions to client environments, and eventually owning the day-to-day operations of the new model. You don't need to be an AI developer, but you must be genuinely engaged in the journey.
Technical Requirements
We're looking for deep expertise in Microsoft 365 as your primary domain, with strong operational capability (L2+) across networking, security, virtualisation, and backup/DR.
Primary Domain: Cloud, Identity & Compliance
This is your core. Architect and manage hybrid identity environments - conditional access policies, MFA enforcement, directory synchronisation, and tenant-level administration.
Experience with endpoint management (MDM/MAM), data loss prevention, information protection, and cloud security posture management. Awareness of compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, CSA Cyber Trust/Cyber Essentials) is valued. Experience with Microsoft Copilot administration and enablement is a strong advantage.
Operational Domains (L2+ Required)
Cross-Functional Disciplines
Certifications
Non-Negotiable (Pass/Fail) Requirements
Nice to Have
What Success Looks Like (First 6 Months)
Operate as final L2/L3 escalation point, lead a P1 incident, and embed into client environments.
Fully established as escalation owner and change management gate; trusted technical contact for key clients.
Lead at least one complex project end-to-end, support pre-sales, and contribute to AI-driven service improvements.
