Job Summary
You will be working with our client who are well renowned in the public and financial sector. Seeking an experienced Senior System Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and management of Windows server environments, with strong expertise in Microsoft Active Directory. The role involves translating business needs into secure, compliant infrastructure solutions while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure high availability for critical systems. The candidate will act as the primary Windows specialist, providing technical leadership across projects from initiation to operational handover.
Responsibilities
- Implement Windows-based infrastructure projects within their established practice to ensure service delivery and support to meet the intended availability, continuity and capacity requirements.
- Translate business requirements into Windows infrastructure design solutions.
- Work with service providers to design, develop, deploy and configure Windows infrastructure to meet resiliency, availability and data integrity needs.
- Ensure compliance to Technical Architecture, as well as IM8 and internal IT Policies for Windows environments.
- Manage Windows Infrastructure operations, projects and services to support application systems environments.
- Request to provision new Windows VMs for new systems deployment.
- Manage Windows system architecture, resource planning, infrastructure performance and system hosting environment from server hardware to Windows OS layer (excluding hypervisor and storage) in support of new applications.
- Serve as main Windows infrastructure single-point-of-contact for all new application system initiatives and to support/assist in application architecture design, integration and acceptance and Windows infrastructure performance testing.
- Handover Windows Infrastructure and Systems standard operating procedures and day-to-day performance/availability monitoring to Operations Engineer upon commissioning and completion of PGP.
- Support Operations Engineer on Windows Infrastructure and Systems troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Assist in Windows Infrastructure Architecture review, support and endorsement. Review Windows hardening standards for OS, database and applications.
- Windows hosting environment infrastructure on-boarding (design, setup, configuration, implementation, testing and commissioning of Windows infrastructure components).
- Understand Windows systems operations environment including monitoring, patching, and maintenance procedures.
- Take care of end to end Windows operations and integrations with client machines.
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Active Directory and Windows ecosystem, including: Active Directory Backup/Restore procedures, Group Policy Object (GPO) creation, maintenance and troubleshooting, Active Directory Migration/Upgrade planning and execution, Windows Authentication/Authorization mechanisms, Active Directory Site and Services connectivity design, Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) Active Directory (EC2 instance) management, GCC RDS Active Directory integration and management, Windows Server roles and features (DNS, DHCP, Certificate Services, etc.), Windows clustering and high availability solutions, Windows PowerShell scripting and automation, Windows security hardening and compliance frameworks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022), including Windows OS virtualisation technologies, Windows-based SAN storage integration, and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, and System Center suite.
- Proficiency in Windows PowerShell scripting, automation tools, and Windows deployment technologies (WDS, MDT, SCCM).
- Experience with Windows security frameworks, patch management, and compliance tools.
- Ability to take a broad, strategic perspective on Windows infrastructure whilst drilling deep to understand business needs and technical challenges.
- Ability to analyse and identify comprehensive Windows-based solutions considering all functional implications while developing workable solutions.
- Results and customer oriented with focus on Windows service delivery excellence.
- Team player with strong organisation and people handling skills in Windows project environments.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present Windows technical solutions and influence stakeholders.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE, Azure certifications) would be advantageous.
- Experience with Windows monitoring tools (Performance Monitor) and Windows troubleshooting methodologies.
