The role operates within a highly structured, SLA-driven and ITIL-aligned environment, requiring the candidate to manage complex infrastructure incidents, perform root cause analysis, implement system improvements, and ensure the availability, security, and performance of critical enterprise systems.

Key Responsibility:

Windows Server & Infrastructure Administration

  • Perform advanced administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 environments.
  • Manage enterprise Windows server infrastructure including server builds, configuration, upgrades, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor server availability, performance, capacity, and system health to ensure compliance with operational and availability requirements.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex Windows operating system, hardware, system services, and infrastructure-related incidents.
  • Perform system health checks and proactively identify potential infrastructure issues before they impact business operations.
  • Support physical and virtual server environments, including hardware components, storage, system resources, and server dependencies.
  • Participate in infrastructure upgrades, technology refresh, server migration, consolidation, and decommissioning activities.

Active Directory & Identity Management

  • Provide advanced administration and operational support for Microsoft Active Directory environments.
  • Manage and troubleshoot Active Directory components including users, groups, computers, Organizational Units (OUs), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), authentication, permissions, and domain services.
  • Perform investigation and resolution of complex AD-related issues involving authentication, access, replication, policies, and domain connectivity.
  • Support Active Directory security and administration best practices, including access control and privileged account management.
  • Assist with AD restructuring, domain migrations, policy changes, and infrastructure enhancement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive Active Directory administration and operational tasks.

PowerShell & Automation

  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate system administration, monitoring, reporting, configuration, maintenance, and operational activities.
  • Automate repetitive Windows Server and Active Directory tasks to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Develop scripts for server health checks, user/account administration, system information gathering, patch validation, service monitoring, and operational reporting.
  • Troubleshoot and enhance existing automation scripts while ensuring appropriate error handling, logging, and operational controls.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce automation and standardisation into infrastructure support processes.

Server Patching & Security

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute Windows Server patching activities in accordance with security requirements, change management procedures, and agreed maintenance windows.
  • Perform pre- and post-patch validation to ensure system stability and application availability.
  • Investigate patch-related issues and coordinate remediation with relevant infrastructure and application teams.
  • Maintain patch compliance and provide accurate operational reporting.
  • Support vulnerability remediation and infrastructure hardening activities where required.
  • Ensure infrastructure changes are implemented in accordance with approved change management and security procedures.

Server Management & Monitoring Tools

  • Administer and utilise enterprise server management, monitoring, deployment, and remote administration tools.
  • Monitor infrastructure alerts and events, perform initial investigation, and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support deployment and configuration management activities across Windows server environments.
  • Maintain accurate system configuration information, operational records, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Where applicable, utilise Altiris and other enterprise management tools for software deployment, configuration, inventory, patching, and endpoint/server management.

Storage & Hardware Infrastructure

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of enterprise server storage technologies and RAID configurations, including RAID 0+1, RAID 1, RAID 5 and other commonly used RAID technologies.
  • Troubleshoot server hardware, storage, disk, and RAID-related issues.
  • Perform basic analysis of storage performance, capacity, disk health, and redundancy.
  • Work with hardware and infrastructure vendors for complex hardware and storage-related incidents.
  • Support hardware replacement, server maintenance, and infrastructure refresh activities.

Incident, Problem & Service Management

  • Provide Level 2/Level 3 technical support for complex Windows infrastructure and Active Directory incidents.
  • Manage incidents in accordance with defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and operational priorities.
  • Perform detailed troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution for recurring or high-impact infrastructure issues.
  • Participate in major incident resolution and provide timely technical updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate incident, problem, change, and knowledge records within enterprise ticketing systems such as HP Service Manager / ServiceNow or equivalent platforms.
  • Ensure incidents are properly documented, tracked, escalated, and resolved within agreed service levels.
  • Participate in problem management activities and recommend preventive measures to minimise recurring incidents.

Change & Release Management

  • Implement infrastructure changes in accordance with established ITIL and change management processes.
  • Prepare technical implementation plans, risk assessments, rollback plans, and validation procedures for infrastructure changes.
  • Support scheduled maintenance activities and planned service outages.
  • Ensure all changes are appropriately documented and approved before implementation.
  • Participate in post-implementation reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of change processes.

Operational Support & Shift Operations

  • Provide infrastructure support within a 24x7 / shift-based operational environment, where required.
  • Perform monitoring, incident response, scheduled maintenance, system checks, and operational activities during assigned shifts.
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours support arrangements where applicable.
  • Ensure effective handover of outstanding incidents, operational issues, and planned activities between shifts.
  • Respond effectively to changing priorities and operational requirements in a dynamic technology environment.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including operational procedures, troubleshooting guides, system runbooks, knowledge articles, and infrastructure documentation.
