Senior Staff Nurse (Radiology)

Background:

You will be part of the team providing high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures. You will work closely with Interventional Radiologists, Radiographers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred care throughout the pre-, intra-, and post-procedural journey.

You will be responsible for supporting a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic image-guided procedures while adhering to hospital policies, nursing standards, infection prevention practices, and patient safety requirements. You will also provide patient education, support junior nurses, and contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental services.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after Interventional Radiology procedures.
• Conduct patient assessments, monitor clinical status, and promptly recognise and escalate patient deterioration.
• Support procedural sedation, medication administration, contrast administration, and patient monitoring.
• Assist Interventional Radiologists during procedures as scrub and/or circulating nurse where required.
• Support a range of Interventional Radiology procedures, including but not limited to:Port-A-Cath InsertionLung BiopsyTransjugular Liver BiopsyTrans-Arterial Chemoembolization (TACE) via Radial AccessAVF Stenting / ThrombolysisLower Limb AngioplastyThrombectomyTransjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS)
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, radiation safety, and procedural safety standards.
• Provide education and counselling to patients and their families regarding procedures and post-procedure care.
• Maintain accurate documentation and nursing records.
• Precept and mentor junior nurses and new staff.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Participate in rostered on-call duties to support after-hours Interventional Radiology services.

Requirements

• Registered with the Singapore Nursing Board.
• Possess a Diploma and/or recognised Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Candidates with Post Basic Certificate, Advanced Diploma in Nursing, or relevant specialty qualifications will have an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience in an acute healthcare setting.
• Relevant Interventional Radiology experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting Interventional Radiology procedures such as biopsies, vascular interventions, TACE, thrombectomy, angioplasty, AVF interventions, or similar image-guided procedures will be highly advantageous.
• Possess good interpersonal and communication skills, with a positive work attitude and strong commitment towards service excellence.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced procedural environment.
• Willing to participate in on-call duties.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
