Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Sourcing Manager to support our Instrument Organization, responsible for strategic sourcing and supplier management in support of New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustained production. This role owns supply chain strategy and execution for OEM, Custom OEM, contract manufacturers, and fabricated components, with a strong focus on plastic and machining commodities.

The ideal candidate brings proven experience managing contract manufacturers end-to-end, from supplier selection and NPI onboarding through production ramp, cost optimization, and lifecycle management. This is a highly cross-functional role partnering closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Finance to deliver scalable, high-quality, and cost-competitive supply solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own category strategy for OEM, Custom OEM, contract manufacturers, and fabricated components, including plastic injection molding and precision machining.
  • Lead end-to-end contract manufacturer management, including qualification, NPI support, capacity planning, ramp-up, performance management, and risk mitigation.
  • Drive supplier selection and sourcing decisions for new programs, technology transfers, and dual-sourcing initiatives.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, including RFQs, SOWs, tooling agreements, pricing, and global Master Supplier / Service Agreements.
  • Ensure supplier strategies align with quality, manufacturability, scalability, cost, and long-term supply continuity.
  • Perform BOM cost analysis and should-cost modeling to identify cost-reduction opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Support make vs. buy decisions, including outsourcing of subassemblies, kitting, and value-add manufacturing.
  • Provide input on new manufacturing technologies, processes, and materials to improve product performance and cost.
  • Support annual planning through CapEx, product cost, and market analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree. A degree in engineering is strongly preferred
  • 8+ years of strategic sourcing or commodity management experience supporting OEMs, contract manufacturers, and fabrication suppliers in medical device, life science, or healthcare environments.
  • Hands-on experience with plastic and machining suppliers, including tooling and secondary processes.
  • Demonstrated success managing contract manufacturers end-to-end, from NPI through mass production.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with the ability to independently lead complex supplier agreements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical capability and comfort working with large data sets.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or Engineering.
  • Experience managing budgets, KPIs, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Experience leading cross-functional commercial and technical teams.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 and regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Oracle, SAP, QAD, or similar).
  • Experience sourcing Optical, Laser, Precision Motion, Plastic, and Machining components in medical or life science applications.
