Senior Software Engineer (Java / Platform Engineering)

This role sits within a well-established technology team responsible for modernising enterprise banking platforms using microservices, automation and cloud-ready architectures.

Job Purpose:
Lead the design and delivery of scalable enterprise platforms supporting secure and high-performance banking applications.

Job Responsibilities:
. Lead technical design and development of enterprise applications across banking technology platforms.
. Collaborate with business analysts, infrastructure teams and vendors to deliver reliable technology solutions.
. Drive platform improvements through automation, reusable frameworks and modern engineering practices.
. Ensure system performance, security and integration standards are maintained across development projects.
. Mentor engineers, manage vendor resources and guide teams to deliver projects successfully.

Job Requirements:
. 8+ years hands-on software engineering experience including technical leadership responsibilities.
. Strong experience with Java, APIs, databases and modern backend development practices.
. Familiarity with Linux environments, scripting, DevOps tools and automated deployment pipelines.
. Experience building microservices, container platforms such as Docker or Kubernetes and event streaming.
. Strong communication skills with ability to lead teams and collaborate across technical stakeholders.
