Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Senior Software Engineer, Backend, to join Genesis MedTech's Singapore AI Innovation organization to help drive the future of minimally invasive surgery. In this role, you will work closely with machine learning engineers, designers, marketing teams, and product managers to develop and deliver Digital Surgery applications leveraging machine learning and computer vision technologies. You will be responsible for deploying machine learning models across prototype, on-prem, and cloud environments, while developing scalable solutions and selecting appropriate technology stacks for different deployment needs. The role also involves owning significant portions of the product and contributing to the next generation of product features and system architecture in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment focused on quality software and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with machine learning engineers, designers, marketing teams, and product managers from inception through delivery of Digital Surgery applications.
• Deploy machine learning models across different product stages, including prototype, on-prem, and cloud deployment environments.
• Develop scalable deployment solutions and select appropriate technology stacks for different product environments and deployment needs.
• Own significant portions of the product and help define and build the next wave of product features and system architecture.
• Contribute to product strategy through the development of new product features and system architecture.
• Build quality software solutions while maintaining operational excellence in a dynamic and customer-centric environment.
• Develop and maintain backend solutions using AWS cloud services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and VPC networking.
• Implement secure AWS data storage and access patterns, including encryption at rest and in transit, IAM-based access controls, and secrets management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering, including scalable distributed systems and APIs.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Python, and working with machine learning teams to deploy machine learning models, both on prem and in cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, testing, and operations.
• Deep hands-on expertise in backend development and scalable system design.
• Knowledge of medical devices, medical imaging, and computer vision technologies, with working knowledge of segmentation, image registration, and 3D reconstruction.
• Ability to take projects from requirements scoping through implementation and launch.
• Strong communication skills with users, technical teams, and management on requirements, software features, and technical designs.
• Ability to travel internationally up to 25% based on business needs.
