Job Description
Position Summary:
The WMS Implementation Specialist is the pivotal technical and functional expert responsible for the successful deployment and adoption of the unified Warehouse Management System (WMS) across the ambient network. This role serves as the critical link between the to-be process designs, the technical project team, and operational end-users. The specialist is accountable for accurately translating defined to-be processes into effective WMS configurations, ensuring the system enables the engineered workflows. A key success factor is embedding business continuity principles into the system build to ensure operational resilience from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Translation & System Alignment: Act as the primary WMS expert to interpret and translate the to-be process flows, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and requirements into detailed technical system actions, configurations, and workflows within the WMS.
- System Configuration & Build: Execute the configuration and build, and customization of the WMS platform, ensuring strict adherence to the approved process designs for all ambient warehouse functions (order downloading/releasing, receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, cycle counting and inventory control).
- Requirements Validation & Gap Analysis: Collaborate with Industrial Engineering and Operations teams to validate that all functional requirements are captured and feasible within the selected WMS (Functionality offering from the WMS vs functional requirement). Proactively identify and communicate gaps between the desired process and system capabilities, proposing viable configuration-based solutions.
- Integration & Interface Configuration: Partner with technical integration teams to define and test all technical interfaces required to support the to-be processes, ensuring seamless, bidirectional data flow between the WMS and upstream/downstream systems (ERP,Order Management,WMS/WES/WCS/RCS,TMS).
- Testing & Validation Against Process Design: Develop, execute and manage comprehensive test scripts to validate that every system path, business rule, and configuration correctly enables the intended operational process. Lead and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the operational outcome aligns with the engineered design.
- Data Migration Execution & Infrastructure Assessment: Lead data mapping, and validation activities to ensure master data (items, locations, bins) and open transactions align with the new process and system. Develop intuitive dashboards and reports to support the Operations team in tracking productivity and KPIs.Define and communicate all WMS-specific security and infrastructure requirements to the IT team.
- Training & Change Support & Troubleshooting: Develop clear, role-based training materials and system guides that clearly link WMS tasks back to the SOPs. Provide hands-on support, conduct training sessions and perform root cause analysis to troubleshoot issues, empowering super-users and staff to execute the processes using the new system.
- Go-Live & Hypercare Support: Act as the frontline WMS authority during site go-live, ensuring the system performs as configured to support the live operation, troubleshoot configuration issues, resolve user questions, and guarantee a stable transition.
- Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Create and maintain definitive as-built configuration documents, process-to-system mapping, and test records. Ensure complete and effective knowledge transfer to the support team for long-term system support.

- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex process documentation (process maps, SOPs) and translate them into a configured system. Experience working closely with Industrial Engineering or Process Excellence teams is highly desirable.
- Strong technical aptitude with a solid understanding of system integrations (APIs, EDI) and data structures. Working knowledge of SQL for data validation is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on building system-based solutions to meet predefined operational requirements.
