Purpose
The Senior Sales & Product Management Engineer is responsible for driving the commercial success of assigned products or solution lines. This role combines technical acumen with business development skills, supporting the BU team, managing product lifecycles, and serving as the key technical liaison between customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, commercial mindset, and the ability to bridge customer needs with product capabilities.
Job Duties:
Sales & Business Development:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to grow market share for assigned products or solutions.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across target industries.
- Provide pre-sales technical support, including solution design, proposal preparation, and presentations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, and partners.
- Achieve sales targets through proactive account management and customer engagement.
Product Management:
- Act as the product champion, managing the product portfolio throughout its lifecycle (introduction, growth, maturity, and phase-out).
- Work closely with principals and suppliers to align product offerings with market needs.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
- Support pricing strategy, marketing activities, and promotional plans.
- Provide product training to internal teams and customers.
- Coordinate with engineering and technical support teams to resolve product issues or improve performance.
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in technical sales, product management, or application engineering within the optical, mechanical, or precision engineering industries.
- Proven track record in managing optical components, mechanical assemblies, or engineered systems for industrial or OEM customers.
- Experience working with international suppliers and customers, especially across Europe, the U.S., and Singapore.
- Exposure to assembly operations, including coordination with production, quality, and engineering teams.
- Familiarity with supply chain and product localization activities such as sourcing, customization, and technical validation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Additional qualifications in Product Management, International Business, or Sales & Marketing will be an advantage.
- Strong technical foundation in optical systems, mechanical design principles, and precision assembly processes.
- Knowledge of tolerances, materials, and optical specifications (e.g., lenses, mirrors, fiber optics) preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Language: Excellent written and spoken English. Ability to communicate effectively with counterparts in China and Malaysia is an advantage for coordination across regional sites and supplier/customer discussions.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and experienced with CRM/ERP systems.
- Technical Tools: Familiar with CAD drawings and basic understanding of manufacturing documentation (BOMs, assembly drawings, inspection reports).
- Travel: Willing to travel occasionally to Europe, the U.S., and within Asia for customer visits, supplier meetings, or product training.
