Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment. ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific area of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real-world applications.

We are looking for a Senior Research Fellow to develop a CFD engine and building energy models. The role will focus on participating in the development and implementation strategy of a cloud AI-based framework to perform business valuation.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop new CFD solutions in partnership with our academic and technology partners
Identification of new research and technology development priorities
Providing CFD technical leadership to new research programs
Work closely with other team members to develop OpenFOAM methods, processes and workflows
Develop and implement mesh, solver and post-processing methodologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our CFD tools and workflow
Support and optimise CFD tools including monitoring and resolving issues
Ensure that CFD simulations and analysis carried out within the department are aligned with the capability of the commercial tools
Conduct research into and analysis the energy usage of different scenarios
Write reports and mapping the total energy usage
Thinking of ideas for actionable options
Respond to questions from team members
Publish papers and support documentation.
Job Requirements:
PhD qualification degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Applied Physics or related field
At least 3 years of relevant experiences in CFD development.
Familiarity with CFD solvers (Fluent, 6Sigma, STAR-CCM+, etc.)
Good written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in OpenFOAM development and/or in C++ language development in a CFD environment
Competent in soft skills / general personality traits e.g. information visualization, interaction design
Experience with energy modelling or coding platforms including SketchUp, EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, TRNSYS, and Python
Proven ability to work at a fast pace and to react rapidly to new information
F1 experience would be advantageous but not essential
Experience of Python, C++, and Unix shell scripting would be advantageous
