The School of Materials Science & Engineering is seeking to hire a Senior Research Fellow to undertake responsibilities in the design, synthesize, activation and characterize the porous polymer microspheres. This project will involve designing of upscaling processes including working with collaborators in doing the LCA for the scale up process. The project would involve a great deal of upscaling development and working with clinicians also on the testing of these materials. This candidate will be expected to work in a team consisting of chemist, biologists and material scientists.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct advanced characterization on porous particles including SEM/BET/etc.
Develop workflow for scaling up of processes.
Develop methodologies to conduct in-depth structural and functional studies and improve instrumentation setup.
Write reports.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholder on the area of development and understanding LCA and planning for clinical studies.
Mentoring interns, undergraduates and postgraduate students
Assist in grant writing.
Maintenance of lab or equipment or supplies that include procurement and liaison with suppliers.
Produce high quality reports and documents that consolidate research findings.
Job Requirement:
PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or relevant field.
Experience morphological/structural techniques for materials characterization.
Experience in characterization techniques such as electron microscopy, NMR, BET, etc, will be an advantage.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong initiatives.
Good communication and written skills.
Responsible and passionate self-starter.
