Job Description

The company is established in Biopolis, Singapore, with the aim of securing the company's first overseas R&D base specializing in the healthcare and life science field. DLIR's location and setting are expected to help the company secure and nurture researchers capable of leading cutting-edge R&D projects that involve collaboration with institutions around the world.

The company is seeking a Senior Research Engineer to join the Device team in Biopolis, Singapore. The successful candidate will be working as part of the device prototyping team under the New Business Development section collaborating with both business and research teams from Japan.

  • Working Location: Central (Buona Vista)
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday (8.45 AM - 5.30 PM)
  • Duration: Contract (3 years - Renewable)

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze the engineering output from other medical device projects.
  • Prototype and develop automated medical devices and diagnostic platforms for molecular and immunological testing.
  • Design and fabricate microfluidic devices for digital detection assays across all development stages, including proof-of-concept, prototyping, optimization, and validation.
  • Integrate and automate systems incorporating pneumatic and fluidic control, thermal management (heating/cooling), optical sensors, microcontroller programming, camera systems, and GUI-based applications.
  • Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and systematic documentation of experimental procedures, results, and design iterations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of industrial experience.
  • Familiarity with quality management standards such as ISO 13485 and ISO 9001.
  • A self-driven, highly motivated, and organized individual with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work on-site and engage with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Additional Experience or Willingness to Learn

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design tools (e.g., SolidWorks).
  • Hands-on experience with microcontroller platforms such as Arduino, ESP32, or STM32 for system control.
  • Ability to program and debug scripts using languages like Python or C++.
  • Practical skills in electronics assembly, including soldering and circuit integration.
  • Knowledge of high-precision 3D printing technologies (FDM & DLP) for microfluidic prototyping.
  • Experience in selecting optics parts and suppliers to create a fluorescence detection system.
  • Understanding of the basics of designing thermal-controlled modules used in diagnostic platforms.
  • Capability to prototype, assemble, and test mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Basic experience in developing GUI-based mobile applications for Android and iOS.
  • Experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
