Job Description

Job Summary

UIB Asia seeks an experienced and motivated senior broker to lead client-facing treaty and retrocession broking activities. This role drives new business growth, delivers tailored reinsurance solutions, and strengthens market presence across Asia-Pacific through strategic client engagement and expert programme placement.

Responsibilities

Client & Market Engagement

  • Build and sustain strong relationships with cedents, reinsurers, and industry stakeholders to enhance client retention and market positioning
  • Analyse client needs to design and deliver customised treaty and retrocession solutions that meet strategic objectives
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within assigned Asia-Pacific markets through targeted market research and segmentation analysis

Reinsurance Broking & Placement

  • Structure, negotiate, and place complex treaty and retrocession programmes with global and regional reinsurers to secure optimal terms, pricing, and capacity aligned with client goals
  • Collaborate with analytics and technical teams to refine programme structures and improve risk transfer efficiency
  • Lead participation in new tenders and proposals to expand business portfolio

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure all broking activities comply with MAS Guidelines on Fit & Proper Criteria (MAS 502) and internal compliance policies
  • Monitor and interpret evolving reinsurance regulations across Asia and other relevant jurisdictions to maintain regulatory adherence

Internal & External Coordination

  • Coordinate end-to-end reinsurance transactions by collaborating with claims, finance, compliance, and operations teams
  • Represent UIB Asia at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings to promote the company's expertise and services

Required competencies and certifications

  • Minimum 10 years experience in reinsurance broking or underwriting with a focus on treaty and/or retrocession
  • Proven ability to structure and place complex treaty and retrocession programmes effectively
  • Strong market knowledge and established relationships across Asia-Pacific reinsurance markets
  • In-depth working knowledge of reinsurance pricing, wordings, and portfolio structures
  • Compliance with MAS Fit & Proper regulatory guidelines (MAS 502)
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Professional qualifications such as ACII, ANZIIF (Senior Associate), or equivalent
  • Experience using reinsurance analytics and catastrophe modelling tools
