Job Description

Senior Quantity Surveyor — Data Centres

Singapore | Highly Competitive Salary | Permanent

Lead a regional portfolio. Help build the team around you.

DARA People is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Singapore for an international construction consultancy expanding its global cost management team.

You will take responsibility for cost management across a regional portfolio supporting a confidential data centre programme. Working directly with client stakeholders and the consultancy's senior cost management leads, you will have a meaningful role in both delivering the work and developing the service.

The attraction is the combination: regional ownership now, influence over how the team operates, and the potential to move into broader leadership as it grows.

Why this could be your next move

For a Senior QS who enjoys the technical work but wants more say in how it is delivered, this appointment offers substantial scope.

You will be trusted to make recommendations, challenge assumptions and guide client decisions. Your perspective will matter beyond your own projects: you will contribute to shared reporting, working practices and the development of colleagues.

As the regional team expands, there is potential to help select, support and lead the people joining it. You will remain closely connected to experienced international colleagues, with specialist expertise available when you need it.

It is also an opportunity to bring your skills into data centre infrastructure without previous sector experience being a barrier. The priority is a strong consultancy QS who can think clearly, advise confidently and take responsibility.

What you will do

Your work will span early feasibility through construction and closeout, giving you visibility of the decisions that shape a project and their financial consequences.

You will:

  • Own regional cost delivery: manage multiple projects, maintain clear priorities and provide consistent, dependable advice.
  • Shape budgets early: prepare feasibility estimates and cost plans, assess design options and identify cost risks.
  • Challenge pricing: analyse tenders, review contractor submissions and assess the financial impact of proposed changes.
  • Keep forecasts reliable: produce accurate cost reports and cash-flow projections, explaining movements and highlighting decisions needed.
  • Build client confidence: present recommendations clearly and develop effective relationships with stakeholders across the region.
  • Strengthen the service: contribute improvements to reporting and processes, share knowledge and support colleagues as the team develops.

What you will bring

You will be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Senior Cost Manager with a consultancy or client-side background, comfortable managing your own projects and advising clients directly.

We are looking for:

  • Strong pre- and post-contract cost management experience.
  • Well-developed estimating, cost planning, reporting and cash-flow forecasting skills.
  • Broad construction knowledge across civil, structural, architectural and building services packages.
  • Experience managing several projects without compromising accuracy or responsiveness.
  • Knowledge of Singapore and/or wider regional construction markets.
  • Professional chartership, ideally achieved. Exceptional candidates actively working towards chartership will also be considered.

You should be someone who asks good questions and follows them through. Working across different markets brings unfamiliar situations; the ability to investigate, apply sound principles and recommend a practical way forward will be essential.

Data centre experience is an advantage. Strong QS fundamentals, professional judgement and client confidence are the essentials.

Package and practical details

  • S$10,000–12,000 per month + Annual Wage Supplement (AWS).
  • Negotiable depending on experience.
  • Permanent, full-time position based in Singapore.
  • Limited travel according to project needs.
  • Target start of January 2027, with earlier onboarding considered.
  • Locally based candidates with existing working rights preferred. Relocation or sponsorship may be considered for an exceptional candidate, subject to approval.
