Job Summary
Manage contractual and commercial matters for construction projects to ensure risk mitigation, compliance, and optimal commercial outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the interpretation, administration, and enforcement of contract terms and conditions to safeguard company interests
- Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate claims and contract variations to resolve commercial issues effectively
- Provide actionable contractual advice to project teams to mitigate risks and support project delivery
- Manage subcontractor procurement processes, contracts, and performance to ensure alignment with project requirements
- Oversee dispute resolution processes, including substantiating claims and formulating responses to protect company position
- Monitor project costs, cash flow, and commercial exposure to maintain financial control and forecast risks
- Ensure strict compliance with contractual obligations and statutory requirements to avoid legal and financial penalties
- Support management by preparing commercial reports, conducting risk assessments, and delivering informed recommendations
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
- Proven experience in contracts and claims management within construction projects
- Hands-on experience managing contractual correspondence, claims documentation, and negotiations
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and legal principles
