Responsibilities
- Examine and assess construction plans to accurately prepare quantity requirements for building projects
- Collaborate effectively with site managers, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and timely issue resolution
- Gather, prepare, and deliver detailed reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, and risk assessments to relevant management or personnel for informed decision-making
- Provide actionable advice and strategic recommendations to managers and clients on innovative improvements and new project strategies
- Document design changes and update project budgets promptly to reflect modifications and maintain financial accuracy
- Build and sustain professional relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution
- Travel to various construction sites as required to oversee project progress and verify work quality and compliance
- Monitor building project progress by verifying executed work claims from contractors, preparing progress claims, and validating progress payments based on completed work stages
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned on an ad-hoc basis
Required competencies and certifications
- Minimum 6 years of local experience as a quantity surveyor in the building construction industry
- In-depth knowledge of construction principles, guidelines, and industry standards
- Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills applied to project management and cost control
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure optimal costs with vendors and subcontractors while maintaining budget efficiency
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with diverse construction teams, produce clear reports, and liaise with clients and stakeholders
- Hold a relevant local vocational supervisor level certificate
- Demonstrate ability to interpret construction drawings,schematics, and construction documents accurately
