Oversee and lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the company's Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) management systems across the fleet.
Provide guidance and leadership to the QA & Training functions within the QHSE Department to ensure effective implementation of company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Work closely with Fleet Directors (FD) and Superintendents on all QHSE-related matters, providing expert advice and support on safety, quality and environmental compliance.
Lead and coordinate investigations of major incidents, casualties and non-conformities, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and effective corrective and preventive actions.
Plan, manage and conduct internal and external audits for the fleet to ensure compliance with applicable international regulations and industry standards.
Monitor safety performance and environmental compliance across the fleet, identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead the preparation and review of Management Review meetings, including evaluation of the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
Support the development and implementation of safety initiatives and programmes to strengthen safety culture across the fleet.
Liaise with relevant stakeholders including flag states, classification societies and external auditors on QHSE-related matters.
Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the Fleet Director.
Responsibilities
Possess Master's F.G. or Chief Engineer (Class 1) Certificate of Competency.
Have minimum 1 year command experience as Master on board vessels.
Possess at least 8-10 years of relevant shore-based experience in QHSE / safety management within the maritime industry.
Strong working knowledge of international maritime regulations including ISM Code, MARPOL and ISO management systems.
Completed an Internal Auditor's course.
Completed a course on Accident Investigation and gained practical experience prior to leading investigations.
