Job Description

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the successful delivery of pharmaceutical projects executed under the EPCM model, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable regulatory and quality standards (e.g., GMP, FDA, EMA). The PM will oversee engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.

Role Overview
The Project Manager (PM) is accountable for the overall execution and delivery of pharmaceutical projects under the EPCM framework, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with GMP, FDA, EMA, and other regulatory standards. The PM will lead and coordinate all project phases-engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning-while maintaining effective communication and collaboration with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.

Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop and implement detailed project execution plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Monitor project progress, proactively identify risks, and establish corrective and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure all project activities are executed in accordance with GMP principles and relevant pharmaceutical regulatory requirements.

Engineering Coordination

  • Oversee engineering deliverables and manage interfaces between design, process, and construction teams.
  • Review and approve technical documentation, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with project objectives.

Procurement & Contract Management

  • Manage the procurement process for equipment, materials, and services.
  • Negotiate and administer contracts with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
  • Track long-lead items to prevent schedule delays and ensure timely delivery to site.

Construction & Commissioning Oversight

  • Supervise construction activities to ensure adherence to project plans, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate site inspections, testing, and commissioning works to ensure full regulatory and GMP compliance prior to handover.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, providing timely updates on project progress, risks, and milestones.
  • Conduct coordination meetings with key stakeholders to align expectations and resolve project issues promptly.
  • Manage changes in project scope and ensure stakeholder satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Team Leadership & Reporting

  • Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary project team, including engineers, procurement specialists, and construction supervisors.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on project status, budget performance, risks, and KPIs.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all project phases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related field.
  • Min 7 years of project management experience in pharmaceutical EPCM projects.
  • Proven track record as a Project Manager in pharmaceutical facility or industrial construction, successfully delivering complex, large-scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, FDA, EMA, and applicable local regulatory standards.
  • Experienced in leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating across engineering, procurement, and construction disciplines.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in project management software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and SAP.
