Senior Product Designer (Consumer Product Development)

Job Overview

We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Senior Product Designer (Consumer Product Development) to join our team. This role focuses on designing and developing baby and maternity consumer products for the U.S. market, covering the full product development cycle from early market research through production. You will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to translate customer needs into functional, safe, and manufacturable designs while balancing design intent with cost, quality, and production timelines.

Responsibilities

1. Market Research & Design Thinking

• Conduct independent market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitor insights, with a focus on the U.S. baby and maternity market.

• Analyse customer feedback and market data to identify product gaps and new opportunities.

• Translate research findings into clear product requirements, including user needs, functional specifications, materials considerations, and design criteria.

2. Concept Development & Design Execution

• Generate multiple concept directions for each project using sketches, 2D layouts, and 3D models.

• Refine selected concepts with clear design rationale and attention to usability, safety, and aesthetics.

• Ensure designs are functional, user-centric, safe, and manufacturable, balancing creativity with cost, quality, and timeline constraints.

3. Technical Documentation & Sampling

• Create accurate, supplier-ready documentation, including measurements, specifications, construction details, materials and trim callouts, and artwork files where applicable.

• Maintain organised files and strong version control throughout the development process.

• Review prototypes and samples, identify issues, and provide clear, actionable feedback to drive design and quality improvements.

4. Supplier & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Liaise directly with suppliers to confirm feasibility related to materials, construction methods, processes, and tooling.

• Clarify technical questions and resolve design or production issues in collaboration with suppliers.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on design intent, feasibility, and development timelines.

• Present research findings, concepts, and design decisions clearly to internal stakeholders.

5. Project & Priority Management

• Manage multiple design projects concurrently across different development stages.

• Adapt quickly to evolving requirements, timelines, and feedback while maintaining a high standard of design execution.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of product or industrial design experience (consumer goods preferred baby or parenting products are a plus).

• Proficiency in 2D and 3D design software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop CAD tools such as Rhino, SolidWorks, KeyShot, and related formats including .STP, .OBJ, and .3DS).

• Strong ability to work independently and take ownership of projects, while also collaborating effectively within a team.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and meeting deadlines.

• Detail-oriented with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

• Fluent in Mandarin to communicate effectively with China-based suppliers
