Your Job
As a Engineer in Product Design within our Datacom and Specialty Solutions Division (DSS), you will drive the successful development of new product projects from concept through to market introduction. You will research and develop innovative designs, lead design and development activities, and support products through their lifecycle with a focus on meeting customer requirements and improving manufacturing processes.
Our Team
You will be part of a dynamic product design team working across multiple departments such as Product Marketing, Project Management, Manufacturing Operations, and Quality, spanning different time zones. Collaboration with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders is critical to your success.
What You Will Do

xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Generate design proposals in the form of CAD models, drawings, sketches or the like.

xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Conduct design FMEA.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Conduct design reviews to determine feasibility of design and design for manufacturability.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Confirm design meets Marketing and/or Customer requirements.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Release final design specifications for tooling and process design & development.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Establish product reliability/screen test plans with Reliability.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Review and update design & development plan.

xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Maintain product drawings and other design output documents distribute changes per ECR/ECN procedures as required.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Disposition first article inspection reports.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Approve or disapprove product deviation requests.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Submit product for reliability/screen tests.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Submit product for agency approvals (UL, CSA, VDE, TUV).
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Review and update design FMEA.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Review reliability/screen test results for conformance to product specifications and take action to resolve issues, if any.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Review engineering verification samples, documents and test reports for customer approval.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Review product performance status and seek customer approval
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Update design & development plan.

xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Provide design support for product modifications and/or extensions.

xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Participate in cost reduction activities.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Respond to customer complaints on design-related issues.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Maintain and safe-keep project file.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Apply lessons learnt on new and/or improved designs.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Provide consultations for Sales and/or Marketing on design-related matters.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Assist in purchasing new products/vendors qualification.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Support Quality Department in handling quality claims.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Support Operations in manufacturing process improvements.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Provide training for other Product Design engineering personnel or any others as assigned.
xb7xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0xa0 Assist or lead department support and focal point activities when required.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product design and development, preferably in connector design and manufacturing
- Strong product design engineering knowledge with creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in design control, management, and engineering analysis
- Effective communication and leadership abilities
- Experience in leading and coaching as a supervisor
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience working with NX CAD software
- Prior involvement in manufacturing environments supporting process improvements
- Familiarity with product reliability testing and agency approvals (UL, CSA, TUV)
