Senior Vegetable Sourcing | FoodMax Singapore
About FoodMax
FoodMax is a B2B food supply platform serving F&B businesses across Singapore. We operate a hybrid model combining direct procurement and warehousing with a third-party supplier marketplace, helping restaurants, caterers, central kitchens, and hawker stalls source quality ingredients at competitive prices.
Role Overview
As Senior Vegetable Sourcing, you will be responsible for ensuring stable supply, competitive pricing, and consistent quality across our vegetable category. You will manage two parallel sourcing channels:
- Direct Procurement: Source vegetables from wholesalers, importers, and farms; manage inventory in our warehouse to fulfill platform orders.
- Supplier On-boarding: Identify, evaluate, and onboard third-party suppliers onto the FoodMax platform, enabling them to sell directly to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Stability & Assortment Management
- Monitor daily stock levels of key vegetable SKUs; proactively identify and address shortage risks before they result in stockouts on the platform.
- Build and maintain a diversified supplier base across multiple origins (Malaysia, Thailand, China, local SG farms) to reduce source dependency.
- Track seasonal availability patterns and adjust sourcing plans accordingly.
- Coordinate with warehouse team on receiving, storage conditions, and FIFO rotation to minimise spoilage.
Pricing & Cost Competitiveness
- Conduct regular price benchmarking against Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre market rates and competing B2B platforms.
- Negotiate purchase prices, payment terms, and volume commitments with suppliers.
- Analyse landed cost breakdowns (purchase price, freight, handling, wastage) to identify margin improvement opportunities.
- Support pricing strategy discussions with data-driven recommendations.
Quality Assurance
- Establish and communicate clear quality specifications for each vegetable SKU (grade, size, freshness, packaging).
- Conduct incoming goods inspections and work with suppliers to resolve quality issues promptly.
- Track supplier quality performance over time; initiate corrective actions or supplier replacement where needed.
- Ensure all sourced products comply with SFA food safety requirements.
Supplier Marketplace Development
- Identify potential third-party vegetable suppliers suitable for onboarding onto the FoodMax platform.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities including product range, delivery capacity, quality consistency, and food safety compliance.
- Guide new suppliers through the onboarding process, providing support on platform tools, listing standards, and service expectations.
- Monitor onboarded supplier performance metrics (fulfilment rate, defect rate, response time) and conduct periodic reviews.
Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of supplier contracts, pricing agreements, and purchase orders.
- Generate weekly reports on category performance: stockout rates, average margin, supplier reliability scores, and price trend analysis.
- Use platform sales data to forecast demand and optimise purchasing decisions.
