Senior Process Engineer (Thin Film)

Responsibilities

• Provide support for optical thin film coatings to achieve on-time delivery and production targets. Lead process introduction activities, focusing on development, capability enhancement, and machine upgrades. Drive initiatives aimed at continual improvement, including cycle time reduction and machine process transfers. Deliver technical support for substrate handling and integration into the coating environment, ensuring optimal preparation methods. Operate and utilize metrology instruments for thin film characterization, including spectrophotometers. Identify and analyze production issues, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions to enhance process performance. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for thin film processes, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coating process plans. Support in the review and disposition of discrepant materials, assisting in root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformance cases.

Requirements

• Master's, Bachelor's, or Diploma in Physics, Materials Science, Optics, or a relevant Engineering discipline. At least 5 years of experience in thin film coating within a manufacturing setting, with a preference for optical thin film coatings. Proficiency in thin film software and a strong understanding of optical thin film design. Hands-on experience with vacuum evaporation and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) is advantageous. Proficient in optical coating design software such as FILMSTAR, OptiLayer, TFCalc, or equivalent tools. Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean principles, with relevant implementation experience considered a plus. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
