About the Role
We are seeking a high-performing and experienced Senior Petrochemical Trader to join the trading team in our Singapore office. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and executing petrochemical trading strategies, focusing on products such as Olefins (Ethylene, Propylene etc), Aromatics, and other derivatives. This role requires strong market knowledge, robust trading acumen, and good communications skills to liaise with headquarters and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead trading activities in petrochemical products to maximize Profit & Loss (P&L) across Asia and Global markets, including but not limited to:
- Active exposure management and P&L reporting.
- Identify and develop new trading opportunities.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, supply-demand fundamentals, and pricing dynamics to support trading decisions.
Business Development and Market Expansion
- Build & cultivate new business relationships with customers, suppliers, and other international market players
- Identify, propose and pursue partnership opportunities as well as export/ growth initiatives in line with corporate goals.
Ensure Compliance with internal policies and external regulations
- Adhere to trading guidelines, ethics and controls, HSSE policies, and ship vetting protocols.
- Ensure full compliance with all legal and regulatory frameworks governing international petrochemical trading.
Internal Collaboration & Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Work closely with internal teams including chartering, logistics, operations, finance, legal, and risk to ensure smooth deal execution.
- Support knowledge sharing or coaching to junior team members as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or above in Chemical Engineering, International Trade, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of related experience in petrochemical trading (aromatics, MTBE, olefins, or related products).
- Proven track record of successful trades and solid understanding of physical trading and commercial risk management.
- Experience working with refineries, producers or customers.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Mandarin proficiency and/or additional language skills will be an advantage in supporting global commercial activities.
