Job Description

Purpose of the role

You will own trading and fund operations end to end for a growing, multi-entity investment management group. That covers the full trade lifecycle across exchange-traded and OTC products, our counterparty and broker relationships, and the control framework that keeps operations accurate, compliant and auditable.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will run the day-to-day function yourself, design and document how it works, automate what can be automated, and build and lead the team as the business scales. You will be the Managing Director's primary partner on operational risk and the person the rest of the firm relies on when something breaks.

Key responsibilities

Trade lifecycle and reconciliation

. Own daily reconciliation of positions, cash, margin, net liquidation value and risk across prime brokers, clearing brokers, OTC counterparties, exchanges and crypto custodians.

. Investigate and resolve trade breaks and settlement failures, escalating material issues with a clear assessment of root cause and exposure.

. Manage the operational lifecycle of equities, ETFs, listed futures and options, OTC derivatives (including equity swaps) and digital assets, including settlement cycles, corporate actions, margin calls and collateral movements.

Fund and entity operations

. Oversee operational support for the group's fund structures and entities, including NAV oversight, liaison with the fund administrator, auditors and custodians, and cash management across entities.

. Prepare and review financial reports and analyses for management, trading and regulatory

purposes.

Counterparties and onboarding

. Lead operational onboarding and maintenance of brokers, banks, counterparties and trading venues, including account opening, KYC documentation and static data.

. Work with legal and compliance on the operational terms of counterparty agreements (for example ISDA, clearing and prime brokerage agreements) and ensure the business operates within them.

Controls, risk and compliance

. Design, document and maintain the operational control framework: maker-checker on payments and material instructions, access management, reconciliation sign-offs and exception reporting.

. Support the firm's regulatory obligations, including MAS requirements, audit requests and operational risk reporting.

. Own operational incident management: response, root-cause analysis, remediation and lessons learned.

Process design and automation

. Map and document every core operational process so it can be run, reviewed and audited without depending on one person.

. Identify and deliver automation of recurring work (reconciliations, reporting, data feeds), either directly in Python or SQL or in partnership with the engineering team.

Team leadership

. Build, lead and develop the operations team, including hiring, onboarding, training and performance management.

. Set clear standards, procedures and escalation paths so that junior team members can work accurately and independently.

. Provide cover during trading hours and lead the on-call rotation for urgent operational issues.

What success looks like in the first year

1. First 3 months: you run daily operations independently, reconciliations are completed and signed off on time, and every breach or break is escalated with a clear explanation.

2. By 6 months: core processes are fully documented, with a control framework in place that the Managing Director and auditors can review.

3. By 12 months: a meaningful share of recurring manual work is automated, and you lead a team that runs routine operations accurately without day-to-day involvement from senior management.

Qualifications and experience

Required

. Degree in accountancy, finance, economics or a related field. A professional qualification (for example CA, CPA or CFA) is an advantage.

. At least 6 years of operations experience in a hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, market maker, asset manager or broker, including at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.

. Deep working knowledge of the trade lifecycle and settlement for both exchange-traded and OTC products, including margin and collateral.

. A track record of designing and running reconciliation and control processes, not only operating them.

. Experience working directly with prime brokers, clearing brokers, fund administrators and auditors.

. Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.

. Sound judgement under pressure, with the integrity and discretion expected of someone handling confidential trading information and client assets.

. Clear written and verbal communication with traders, engineers, counterparties and senior management.

Advantageous

. Python or AI skills, or experience delivering automation of operational processes.

. Familiarity with MAS regulatory requirements for fund managers, and with Singapore fund structures such as VCCs.

. Experience building an operations function in a small or growing firm.

What we offer

. Ownership of the operations function in a growing, multi-asset, multi-jurisdiction business, with direct access to the Managing Director.

. The mandate and resources to design operations properly, including automation and teambuilding, rather than only maintaining what exists.

. Competitive compensation benchmarked to the Singapore market for senior operations roles, with a performance-linked bonus.
