Job Description

MASSIVUE is a transformation-focused consulting firm that helps organisations achieve faster time-to-market, higher employee engagement, and stronger customer satisfaction. The company specialises in AI operating models, technology product co-creation, leadership coaching, and role based education to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Role Summary

For one of our clients, we are looking for a hands-on Senior Network Migration Engineer with over 10 years of robust enterprise networking experience to lead end-to-end switch migrations, network hardening, and infrastructure upgrades. You will own the full migration lifecycle - from low-level design review and cutover planning to security hardening, tool integrations, and operational handover.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in enterprise switching architectures, strict security compliance standards, and risk-managed execution with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

1. Planning & Architecture Review
  • Review low-level network architecture, migration specifications, and design collateral.
  • Audit switch hardware models, OS/firmware versions, licensing tiers, and topology compatibility.
  • Produce detailed Implementation, Migration, Rollback, and User Acceptance/Testing (UAT) plans.
  • Identify operational dependencies, technical risks, and outage windows; coordinate across Server, Security, Application, and Operations teams.
2. Switch Build, Staging & Core Configuration
  • Upgrade firmware and OS images to certified baseline builds.
  • Configure layer-2/layer-3 switching protocols, VLANs, trunking, dynamic routing, link aggregation (LACP), spanning tree protocols (RSTP/MSTP), and management interfaces.
3. Network Security Hardening
  • Harden switch configurations in strict compliance with corporate security benchmarks and audit mandates.
  • Disable legacy protocols, non-secure management vectors, and unused ports/services.
  • Implement port security, 802.1X authentication, access control lists (ACLs), control plane policing (CoPP), and AAA/TACACS+/RADIUS integrations.
4. Monitoring & Telemetry Integration
  • Integrate network switches into central Network Operations Center (NOC) and Enterprise Monitoring platforms.
  • Configure and validate:
  • SNMP monitoring (v2c/v3) and secure Syslog forwarding.
  • NetFlow / sFlow exports where applicable.
  • Performance, throughput, buffer, and capacity telemetry.
  • Environmental and chassis health monitoring (fans, redundant power supplies, thermal metrics).
  • Set up threshold alerts and verify data ingestion into downstream dashboards.
5. Cutover Execution & Support
  • Conduct thorough pre-migration health audits and generate full configuration backups.
  • Execute cutovers during scheduled maintenance windows following approved change-management frameworks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure and application teams to resolve anomalies in real time and eliminate unplanned downtime.
6. Validation, Testing & Operational Handover
  • Perform comprehensive layer-1 to layer-4 connectivity, path redundancy, and failover tests.
  • Provide post-cutover hypercare, analyze logs and alerts, and optimize configurations as needed.
  • Conduct structured knowledge-transfer sessions with steady-state operations teams and secure formal stakeholder sign-offs.
7. Documentation & Release Readiness
  • Author and update high-quality engineering artifacts:
  • As-built network architecture and topology diagrams.
  • Switch configuration baselines, IP management tables, and rack/port mapping spreadsheets.
  • Security hardening matrices and telemetry integration records.
  • Complete operational runbooks and rollback playbooks.

Key Deliverables
  • Fully approved, production-ready switch build configurations.
  • Completed and signed-off Security Hardening Checklist.
  • Validated enterprise monitoring, telemetry, and alerting integrations.
  • Pre-cutover backups, implementation playbooks, and tested rollback procedures.
  • Complete documentation package (as-built diagrams, port maps, IP registers).
  • Post-migration closure report with validation logs, test cases, and stakeholder sign-off.
  • Formal Release Readiness documentation for change-advisory/audit boards.
Requirements & Qualifications
Core Eligibility & Experience
  • Must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident (PR).
  • Availability: Immediate joiners or those with very short notice periods strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of direct, hands-on experience in enterprise network design, implementation, and complex switch migration projects.

Technical Skills

Primary:

  • Advanced switch migration execution across campus, branch, or data-center environments.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise-grade switching platforms (e.g., Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, Arista, Juniper, or Aruba).
  • L2/L3 protocol design (BGP, OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN, VLAN, STP, LACP, HSRP/VRRP).
  • Enterprise network security hardening, port security, CoPP, AAA/RADIUS/TACACS+, and audit compliance.

Secondary:

  • Network monitoring and observability tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Splunk, Datadog, Cisco Prime/Catalyst Center, Grafana).
  • Deep technical documentation skills (Microsoft Visio, technical runbooks, migration matrices).
  • Stakeholder management, cross-functional cutover coordination, and vendor alignment.
Certifications (Advantageous)
  • CCNP / CCIE (Enterprise, Routing & Switching, or Data Center) or equivalent certifications (JNCIP, Aruba Certified).
  • ITIL Foundation certification with familiarity in structured change-management processes.

Availability: Immediate / Notice period up to 2 weeks

Role Type: Full-Time Contract
