We are seeking a hands-on Senior Middleware Production Support Engineer to support a highly regulated banking environment predominantly hosted on Microsoft Windows Server.

The role requires deep technical expertise across IBM WebSphere Application Server, Oracle WebLogic Server and Apache Tomcat, together with hands-on experience supporting secure enterprise file-transfer platforms such as IBM Connect and SSH Tectia.

This is an operationally intensive position involving middleware administration, production incident resolution, platform patching, application deployment, security remediation, certificate management, disaster-recovery exercises and after-hours support.

Job responsibilities:

  • Administer IBM WebSphere Application Server, Oracle WebLogic Server and Apache Tomcat across production and non-production Windows environments.
  • Install, configure, upgrade and patch middleware platforms and associated components.
  • Configure and manage WebSphere profiles, Deployment Manager, nodes, node agents and clustered environments.
  • Administer WebLogic domains, Admin Servers, Managed Servers, Node Manager, clusters and JDBC resources.
  • Configure and support Tomcat instances, connectors, JVM parameters, data sources and application deployments.
  • Deploy and troubleshoot EAR and WAR applications across WebSphere, WebLogic and Tomcat.
  • Perform JVM tuning and investigate high CPU, memory utilisation, stuck threads, connection-pool exhaustion and server-start failures.
  • Analyse system, application, JVM and middleware logs to resolve production incidents.
  • Support IBM HTTP Server, Oracle HTTP Server and middleware web-server plug-ins.
  • Configure and maintain SSL/TLS certificates, Java KeyStores and trust stores.
  • Administer IBM MQ connectivity and troubleshoot middleware-to-messaging integration issues.
  • Install, configure and support IBM Connect and SSH Tectia.
  • Troubleshoot failed or delayed file transfers, node connectivity, authentication, firewall, certificate, cipher and SSH-key issues.
  • Perform SSL certificate and SSH-key renewals in accordance with banking security standards.
  • Support scheduled file-transfer workflows and dependencies through Control-M.
  • Perform middleware vulnerability remediation, security hardening and CVE-related patching.
  • Participate in disaster-recovery exercises, failover testing and production recovery activities.
  • Develop and maintain deployment scripts, operational procedures, runbooks and technical documentation.
  • Provide 24×7 production support through a rotating arrangement as and when required
  • Work with application, infrastructure, database, network, security and change-management teams to resolve complex incidents.
  • Comply with banking change, incident, problem, security and audit-management processes.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements

  • Minimum five years of hands-on middleware administration and production-support experience.
  • At least five years of middleware support experience within Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  • Strong hands-on administration and troubleshooting experience in all three platforms:
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5/9.x
  • Oracle WebLogic Server 12c/14c
  • Apache Tomcat
  • Hands-on experience supporting clustered, high-availability middleware environments.
  • Strong experience with application deployment, JVM tuning, log analysis, patching and production-incident resolution.
  • Hands-on installation, configuration and troubleshooting experience with:
  • IBM Connect
  • SSH Tectia
  • Experience managing SSL/TLS certificates, Java KeyStores, trust stores, cipher updates and SSH-key lifecycles.
  • Experience with IBM HTTP Server or Oracle HTTP Server and application-server plug-ins.
  • Working experience with IBM MQ connectivity and middleware integration.
  • Experience supporting Control-M scheduled jobs or file-transfer workflows.
  • Prior middleware production-support experience within banking or another highly regulated financial-services environment.
  • Experience supporting security remediation, audit requirements, disaster-recovery testing and controlled production changes.
  • Willingness to provide after-hours deployment and rotating on-call production support.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation and stakeholder-management capabilities.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with Xway or another secure managed file-transfer platform.
  • Experience with wsadmin, Python, PowerShell or other middleware automation scripts.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins, Bamboo, ServiceNow, Jira, AppDynamics, Splunk, Kibana or comparable enterprise tools.
  • Knowledge of LDAP/Active Directory integration and middleware authentication.
  • Experience supporting MAS-regulated banking environments in Singapore
