Job Description

Job Summary

Prepare and manage comprehensive tender costings and project budgets to drive successful electrical construction projects. Lead negotiations with contractors and suppliers, collaborate with project teams to meet client requirements, and ensure strict budget control and accurate financial forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed tender costings by analyzing bills of quantities, tender documents, and drawings to estimate material and labor requirements accurately
  • Evaluate and negotiate tenders from sub-contractors and suppliers to secure optimal terms and pricing
  • Collaborate with project teams to align project execution with client requirements and expectations
  • Control and monitor project costs throughout all stages to ensure adherence to predetermined budgets and expenditures
  • Perform monthly valuations of work in progress and forecast final project costs to support financial planning
  • Conduct thorough commercial vetting of sub-contractor tenders and contracts to mitigate risks and ensure compliance
  • Certify sub-contractor monthly valuations and finalize accounts to maintain accurate financial records
  • Monitor and manage all commercial information related to labor, materials, and sub-contractor costs to enforce strict budget discipline
  • Provide timely and accurate commercial information to Managers and Directors for periodic project reviews
  • Execute any ad-hoc duties assigned by superiors to support project and organizational objectives

Required competencies and certifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the electrical construction industry with demonstrated expertise in project cost management and tender preparation
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field
  • Strong negotiation skills to manage contractor and supplier agreements effectively
  • Analytical skills to evaluate tenders, forecast costs, and control budgets accurately
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and project teams
