Job Overview:
The Senior Mechanical Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of mechanical equipment in the plant. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and condition monitoring of rotating and static equipment to minimize downtime and support plant operations.
Responsibilities:
- Installation, calibration, inspection, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment, in accordance with Engineering and Company Standards.
- Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance efficiently and effectively for process and utilities equipment and building facilities.
- Assist in coordinating and ensuring the quality of work carried out by external and internal contractors are as per requirement.
- Maintain and service rotating equipment such as reactors, pumps, agitators, air compressors and ancillaries.
- Maintain and service static equipment such as heat-exchangers, vessels, tanks and ancillaries.
- Perform shaft laser alignment and use vibration analysis tool to collect data.
- Maintain the mechanical spare parts inventory.
- Develop written job plans for mechanical projects.
- Develop written procedures for mechanical equipment maintenance and inspection.
- Maintain the mechanical spare parts inventory.
- Plan and direct procurement of repair parts and material for mechanical equipment for project and maintenance purposes.
- Support Plant Operations to minimize production impacts and enhance reliability.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism while working as a member of a team or when working alone.
- Participate in reliability / TPM programs to improve availability rates for all process mechanical facilities.
- Maintain proper records of all jobs performed in the SAP and CMMS application and participate in mechanical related projects and plant modification work.
Minimum Requirements.
- Nitec or Diploma in Mechanical engineering or Equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in process or mechanical disciplines is required, with foundational exposure to instrumentation and electrical trades.
Preferred Requirements
- Prior experience working in chemical or process plant environments is an advantage.
- Willingness to work overtime when operational requirements demand.
- Available to participate in an on‑call rotation to support 24/7/365 facility operations.
- Must be able to respond to call‑outs within 30 to 60 minutes of notification.
- Preferred to be able to use and navigate business applications including Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) in SAP and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
