An established precision engineering organization supporting the semiconductor manufacturing industry is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its engineering team. This role focuses on the design and development of high‑precision components, tooling, and mechanical systems used in back‑end semiconductor processes.
You will be involved in end‑to‑end design activities-from concept and development through prototyping, testing, and production support-working closely with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop precision mechanical components, parts, and tooling for semiconductor applications
- Create and review detailed 2D/3D CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs
- Support projects from concept development through production and sustainment
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to ensure design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA)
- Support prototyping, testing, validation, and design improvement activities
- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and project planning
- Provide engineering support for production issues and existing products
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, test reports, and design records
- Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering best practices
- Mentor or provide technical guidance to junior engineers where required
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design within semiconductor, precision engineering, or high‑tech manufacturing environments
- Hands‑on experience designing precision parts, tooling, molds, or fixtures
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes (front‑end or back‑end is advantageous)
- Familiarity with advanced materials, coatings, and consumables used in semiconductor applications
- Experience working in cross‑functional engineering and manufacturing teams
- Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)
- Strong capability in producing detailed engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation
- Solid understanding of DFM/DFA principles
- Ability to analyze test data and implement design enhancements
- Advanced CAD training or certification
- Exposure to project coordination or engineering process frameworks
