Job Description
The Marine Superintendent will oversee vetting inspections by Oil Majors for vessels under his care, ensuring compliance with local and international maritime requirements and industry standards. The role covers vessel vetting acceptance, operational support, safety leadership, audits, and incident investigation, working closely with Masters, technical teams, and the Designated Person Ashore (DPA) to uphold nautical and safety standards across the fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Valid Certificate of Competency (COC) Class 1.
- Oversee Oil Major vetting inspections, ensuring vessels meet maritime and industry standards.
- Liaise with Oil Majors to secure vessel acceptance.
- Conduct pre-vetting checks and work with the technical team to resolve issues.
- Support fleet operations and ensure compliance with Company policies.
- Advise Masters and Navigational Officers on nautical standards.
- Drive safety initiatives, including near-miss reporting, inspections, and investigations.
- Investigate accidents/incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Serve on the Company Emergency Response Team.
- Complete internal audits at least annually.
- Conduct ISPS audits, ship inspections, and cargo audits yearly.
- Perform annual navigation audits with improvement recommendations.
- Support the DPA on policy implementation, training, and seminars.
- Represent the Company at industry forums, maintaining key relationships.
- Provide operational support and conduct risk assessments (e.g., hot works, UKC).
- Coordinate fleet provisions and fresh water logistics.
- Raise inspection work orders and follow up on SIRE findings.
- Lead senior officer briefings to promote safety and excellence.
- Cover for the Marine Manager/Safety Marine Manager as needed.
