ABOUT THE ROLE

Senior Manager, Risk Management Department

Reporting to: General Manager, Risk Management Department / CFO, Sojitz Asia Pte. Ltd., Singapore

Functional reporting line to: Risk Management Department, Tokyo HQ, Japan

JOB SUMMARY

The Risk Management Department of Sojitz Asia Pte. Ltd. serves as the regional risk management function for the Asia& Oceania region, oversees credit risk, trade credit insurance, trade security and export control compliance, and risk monitoring for group companies. This role will function as the co-leader, supporting the Head of Department in overseeing daily operations and ensuring effective execution of risk management activities across the region. The incumbent will lead credit review processes, manage insurance programs, oversee trade compliance screening, supervise a team of specialists, and act as a principal liaison with Sojitz Corporation's Risk Management Department in Tokyo on regional risk matters.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Credit Risk Management

. Review and evaluate credit applications submitted by regional subsidiaries and group companies across the Asia & Oceania region (Singapore, India, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Australia, and other markets within the region).

. Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of counterparties, including assessment of financial statements, credit worthiness, and assignment of risk ratings, and credit limits in line with group policies.

. Monitor regional credit exposure, identify early warning signals of deterioration, and implement timely risk mitigation strategies such as collateral enhancement, exposure reduction, and recovery actions.

. Oversee management of overdue receivables and insurance claims processes, including coordination with insurers, loss adjusters, and legal counsel for collection and subrogation matters.

Trade Credit Insurance and Insurance Programs

. Administer the regional trade credit insurance program, including annual renewal negotiations with insurers and brokers, policy administration, declaration of insured receivables, and claims management.

Trade Security and Export Control Compliance

. Oversee trade security screening operations for regional subsidiaries, including counterparty screening against sanctions lists (OFAC, EU, UN and other applicable regimes) and export control classification.

. Manage the regional implementation and configuration of group screening systems, coordinating with subsidiaries on operational workflows and local regulatory developments.

. Assess sanctions risks in transactions, advise business units on permissibility and risk mitigation, and prepare and deliver compliance training to regional subsidiaries.

Regional Risk Oversight and HQ Reporting

. Prepare periodic risk reports for regional management and Tokyo HQ, including monitoring of macroeconomic indicators and geopolitical developments affecting the region.

. Support governance and risk management framework development at regional subsidiaries, including periodic reviews and improvement of risk policies and processes.

. Understand and review Japanese-language materials related to investment projects undertaken by Sojitz Corporation headquarters across the Asia region.

. Respond to emerging risk events (geopolitical crises, counterparty distress, regulatory changes) by assessing regional exposure and coordinating timely countermeasures with business units and HQ.

Team Management

. Supervise, coach and develop a team of risk management specialists covering credit review and trade compliance functions.

JOB SPECIFICATION

The ideal candidate should have/be:

. Bachelor's degree from a recognized university, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related field.

. A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in credit risk management, trade finance, credit insurance or related risk functions.

. Strong financial analysis skills, including corporate financial statement analysis and credit assessment of counterparties in emerging markets.

. Working knowledge of trade credit insurance practices and policy administration.

. Knowledge of, or strong willingness to develop expertise in, sanctions and export control compliance.

. Experience in a trading company, bank, credit insurer or multinational corporate environment covering the Asia & Oceania region is an advantage.

. Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1 or equivalent is required, as documentation and reporting will be in Japanese for evaluation by Japan HQ.

. Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across cultures and coordinate with multiple regional subsidiaries.

. Meticulous, analytically strong, and able to work independently under pressure and tight timelines.

. Willingness to travel within the Asia & Oceania region on business trips as required.
