A highly experienced Raw Cashew Nut (RCN) Trader with expertise in international commodity trading, procurement, risk management, and supply chain optimization. Responsible for driving global trade operations, maintaining strategic supplier and buyer relationships, and ensuring profitable growth while adhering to quality, compliance, and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Procurement
- Source and procure raw cashew nuts from key producing regions (West Africa & East Africa) through team at various origin countries in Africa.
- Manage global trading desk with deep understanding of origin-destination price spreads.
- Running global book of trading (app. 70,000mt) and PNL.
Market & Risk Management
- Analyze global cashew markets, price trends, and demand-supply dynamics.
- Anticipate market movements to optimize trading decisions.
- Frequently visit African countries to assess the supply side situation.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term partnerships with exporters, processors, shipping lines, and end-buyers.
- Liaise with processors in India, Vietnam, and other consuming markets for kernel conversion and sales.
Leadership & Strategy
- Provide leadership, guidance, analytical inputs, trading guidance to the team at Africa origin countries.
- Develop trading strategies aligned with company goals.
- Represent the company at industry forums, trade fairs, and global commodity conferences.
Required Skills & Expertise
- 8-10 years of proven success in RCN/edible nuts/commodity trading.
- Strong knowledge of origin markets (Nigeria, Benin, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Tanzania, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique).
- Expertise in kernel yield estimation and outturn analysis.
- Financial acumen in Forex management - cross currencies (Euro, CFA, Ghana Cedi, Naira etc.)
- Good understanding of Balance Sheet & PNL
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- Strong global network with producers, processors, and buyers.
- Leadership in team building, mentoring, and strategic planning.
